Peggy Guggenheim Collection

Venice, Italy – If I were independently wealthy, I would buy a palazzo on the Grand Canal and use it to house my fabulous collection of modern art and to entertain my artist friends. There is so much to love about the Peggy Guggenheim Collection–not the least, the founder and collector herself.

One of the charms of this Modern art museum is the wonderful canal-side courtyard. The setting really took S’s fancy, and he spent most of his time out here. This little girl sat beside him and watched him draw for nearly 20 minutes.

For my guys, Modern art is more intriguing that Renaissance masterpieces, so they were in their element here. There is much to see but here are some of the highlights. Alexander Calder and Max Ernst were definite favorites.
