This article in BBC News Magazine made the rounds of the mommy forums a few months ago. Why do Finnish babies sleep in cardboard boxes? Because the Finnish government provides them, packed full with clothing, diapers and other necessities, free to expectant mothers.
“There was a recent report that Finnish mums are the happiest in the world, and the box was one thing that came to my mind,” says one such mum. “We are very well taken care of…”
In more recent news, the Government of Finland sent a baby box to the expecting Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Will and Catherine, so they can be well taken care of too.
