Kalajoki, Finland – If you like the idea of sitting at a pond-side picnic table and feasting on freshly smoked salmon that you caught yourself, here is a place that you can do it. Even if you don’t know how to fish (which we don’t). Lohilaakso fish restaurant has a well-stocked pond and a smokery on site. You can even rent your rods here. (And they will help you snag the fish, if you’re having trouble.)
The smoking takes an hour (so bring something for your kids to do!). But it’s well worth the wait!
