Salem, Mass – Everybody knows about Salem’s fascinating history, from the witch hysteria to the maritime trade. But today’s Salem is also a vibrant place. While updating the Lonely Planet content, I went in search of Salem, beyond Witch City.
My favorite find of the summer is the Punto Urban Art Museum, an amazing display of street art, located in one of Salem’s tougher neighborhoods. This is definitely worth a detour away from Pickering Wharf!
Another discovery: contemporary design has arrived in historic Salem at the funky new (-ish) Hotel Salem.
