Bologna, Italy – We took our guest to Bologna to eat tortellini. We didn’t choose our restaurant well, though, and we were all disappointed with our lunch. Fortunately, there are a few other things going on during Christmas season in Bologna.
Sunday is an especially fun day, when the main streets are closed to cars. The whole city comes out for an extended passaggiatta (afternoon stroll). Pedestrians and musicians take to the streets.
Since it’s December, the city is particularly festive, with a Christmas market, Christmas lights and a big Christmas creche featuring the landmark churches of Bologna. The centerpiece was the largest and most magnificent Christmas tree I have seen in Italy. But you’ll have to use your imagination on that one, since my camera battery was dead by then.
