Have Twins, Will Travel

Volcano Views

El Castillo, Costa Rica – When I booked our house in El Castillo with fabulous views of Arenal Volcano, I had visions of the twins on the front porch at night, having their minds boggled by the amazing volcanic fireworks display. That’s what Daddio and I did when we visited this area way back when, and I imagined it would be even more thrilling with the twins.

Imagine my dismay, when I learned that Arenal Volcano has actually been dormant for two years. Um, woops.

Before anyone questions my credentials as a travel writer, let me point out that I am here to do research and discover things just like this. If I do all my work ahead of time, it defeats the purpose. Right? But feel free to question my credentials as a mother planning a family vacation.
Anyway, today was the first day that we actually saw the volcano in its entirety, as it has been shrouded by clouds since we arrived. So there’s no lava spewing out of it, but it’s still pretty impressive. Happy New Year, fellow travelers!
