Porkkala, Finland – We were looking for a mini-adventure with the twins – something close to home but still special. A neighbor had told us that this peninsula jutting into the Gulf of Finland is a beautiful place. We didn’t really know what to expect, aside from (probably) pine-lined walking trails, pink granite climbing rocks and gorgeous watery views.
As it turns out, that’s about it.
– We packed a picnic lunch and ate it overlooking a postcard-perfect bay.
– We climbed on rocks and skipped stones.
– We picked wild blueberries.
– We examined moose scat.
That’s quintessential Finland – there’s nothing to do yet there’s everything to do.
