Charlemont, Mass – After an amazing week in Hawai’i, we are back on the East Coast and back to winter weather. Which means we are back to ski season! This weekend we took a trip to ski at Berkshire East in Charlemont, Mass.
This is one of the independent resorts included in the IndyPass, which I purchased for the twins this year. The pass allows them to ski at resorts around the country (including 11 in New England) for two days each. We immediately used up our two days at Pat’s Peak, which is our go-to for a one-day ski trip. This was the next closest resort, at two hours away. It’s a bit too far for a day-trip, but we did it anyway.
I do love the intimate family atmosphere at these independent resorts. The same family has operated Berkshire East for 45 years. And they produce 100% of their electricity from renewable energy! Very cool, friendly little spot. We went with friends who are newbie skiers, which forced my kids to spend more time on the beginner trails. They were not too thrilled about that. But Berkshire East actually has more intermediate and advanced trails than Pat’s Peak. We also enjoyed the relatively short lift lines. So I would definitely return to this resort.
