Island Harbor, Anguilla – The bay at Island Harbor has a sandy bottom with lots of vegetation, which makes it a favorite territory for sea turtles, as well as stingrays and eagle rays. By day, you can see them coming up for air (turtles) or bellyflopping out of the water (rays). But what are these creatures up to at night? I tried to find out on a tour with Liquid Glow Night Kayak, a paddling outfit that has transparent kayaks fitted with LED lights, to illuminate the sea below. (That’s what they mean by “liquid glow.”) In addition to turtles and rays, we also saw giant tarpon and spiny lobsters. Unfortunately, I couldn’t catch them with my camera, so you just get to see me in the greeny glow.
